PM-KISAN 24th instalment farmers India

PM Modi Releases 24th PM-KISAN Instalment Worth ₹18,690 Crore to 9.34 Crore Farmers From Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring about ₹18,690 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.34 crore farmer families across India. The release was made from Banaskantha district in Gujarat during the Prime Minister’s two-day visit to the state, with the money sent through direct benefit transfer (DBT).

Under PM-KISAN, one eligible member of each farmer family receives ₹6,000 a year, paid in three instalments of ₹2,000 each. The latest transfer continues a scheme that has now run to 24 instalments, and state governments marked the release with their own events on the day.

Key Takeaways

  • PM Modi released the 24th PM-KISAN instalment from Banaskantha, Gujarat, transferring about ₹18,690 crore to more than 9.34 crore farmer families.
  • Under the scheme, each eligible farmer family receives ₹6,000 a year in three instalments of ₹2,000, paid directly into bank accounts.
  • Uttar Pradesh received ₹4,482.19 crore for over 2.24 crore farmers, while Haryana received ₹324.7 crore for more than 16 lakh families.

How the Money Reached Farmers

The instalment was transferred directly to beneficiaries’ accounts through DBT, the system the government uses to send scheme payments without middlemen. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked the Prime Minister on behalf of the state’s farmers, describing the payment as a gift ahead of Diwali. In Uttar Pradesh alone, more than 2.24 crore farmers had ₹4,482.19 crore credited to their accounts, taking the state’s total receipts under the scheme so far to ₹1,07,943.95 crore.

In Haryana, more than 16 lakh farmer families received a total of ₹324.7 crore as part of the same instalment. Chief Minister Nayab Saini attended a state-level event in Bhiwani to mark the release, and Haryana’s cumulative support through all 24 instalments has now reached ₹8,206.3 crore.

Banaskantha Projects Worth Over ₹14,000 Crore

The PM-KISAN release came alongside the inauguration and foundation-laying of development projects valued at over ₹14,000 crore in Banaskantha district, spanning agriculture, animal husbandry, metro infrastructure and rural development. The Prime Minister dedicated the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC) at Bhildi to the nation and inaugurated a new potato processing expansion and the UHT-ASRS facility of Banas Dairy.

He also laid the foundation stones for two compressed biogas plants run by Banas Dairy at Tharad and Radhanpur, and for 4,030 new child-friendly Anganwadi centres, while inaugurating 361 completed centres across Gujarat in an initiative involving an investment of ₹800 crore and expected to benefit more than four lakh people. In addition, 521 projects completed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund were dedicated to the nation, and the Prime Minister flagged off the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)-Varanasi Express and the Mehsana-Becharaji-Sabarmati MEMU train service.

On-ground work also began under 12 approved horticulture clusters covering around 1.46 lakh hectares and expected to benefit more than 1.3 lakh farmers, with two clusters in North Gujarat focused on potatoes.

  • Uttar Pradesh: ₹4,482.19 crore to over 2.24 crore farmers; Haryana: ₹324.7 crore to more than 16 lakh families.
  • Over ₹14,000 crore of projects inaugurated or launched in Banaskantha, including the BBBRC, Banas Dairy facilities and 4,030 new Anganwadi centres.
  • Farmers’ welfare pitch: Modi said farmers had received benefits or savings worth over ₹50 lakh crore through five initiatives, including PM-KISAN, fertiliser subsidies, MSP procurement, crop insurance and solar pumps.

A Wider Farmer Welfare Pitch

Addressing a public meeting in Gujarat, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s wider farmer welfare initiatives, saying farmers had received benefits or savings worth over ₹50 lakh crore through five major initiatives: PM-KISAN, fertiliser subsidies, MSP procurement, crop insurance and solar pumps. He also pointed to more than 26 crore Soil Health Cards distributed to help farmers make informed decisions about fertiliser use, and nearly 3,000 climate-resilient seed varieties introduced for changing weather conditions.

The Gujarat visit also tied into National Unity Day events at Ekta Nagar, home to the Statue of Unity. Modi paid tribute to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity on his 151st birth anniversary as India marked National Unity Day, and a grand Unity Ceremony with a parade and tableaux was scheduled at Ekta Nagar on the evening of October 31.

The release lands at a moment when rural incomes are firmly in the national conversation. India has lifted 496 million people out of poverty, with extreme poverty down to 2.6 percent, according to the World Bank, and direct income support schemes such as PM-KISAN are part of that broader picture for farming households.

What to Watch Next

What to watch next is how quickly the instalment reflects in farmers’ accounts across states, whether state-level events report their own disbursement totals in the coming days, and how the Banaskantha projects — from the bovine breeding centre to the biogas plants and horticulture clusters — progress from foundation stones to working facilities. The next instalment cycle, and any update to the beneficiary count, will show whether the scheme’s reach keeps growing.
